A staple of Italian cuisine, served with Marinara Sauce

800 g ground pork and beef
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 egg
1-2 slices of stale bread
½ cup milk
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/3 cup chopped parsley leaves
salt and pepper

Pour the milk over the bread and leave to soak.
Combine the meat, garlic and onion in a large bowl. Add the egg, soaked bread, parmesan cheese and chopped parsley leaves. Season with salt and pepper.
Knead until uniform.
Preheat the oven to 200 ºC.
Line a baking tin (as large as the oven) with a sheet of parchment paper.
Roll a spoonful of the meat mixture between the palms of your hands to make balls of the size of a plum. Moisten your palms occasionally.
Arrange the balls on the tin, leaving enough space between them.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Turn the broiler on for the last ten minutes.
Pour the Marinara Sauce over the balls and serve with pasta or mashed potatoes.
