SIRUP OD MASLAČKA

Prirodan i zdrav sirup dio je narodne medicine naših baka. Pripremljen u toplim mjesecima, pomaže kod kašlja u hladno doba godine. Bake su govorile: „Kad vas muči kašalj, uzmite 1 žličicu sirupa nekoliko puta dnevno.“

Sastojci:

1 kg cvjetova maslačka
4 l vode
4 naranče
4 limuna
oko 4 kg šećera

Priprema:

Maslačke berite daleko od prometnica, na livadama, i u doba dana kad su cvjetovi širom otvoreni.
Ubrane cvjetove očistite od zelenih listića.
Iscijedite naranče i limune. Sok sačuvajte, a korice naranče i limuna narežite i stavite u vodu. Dodajte očišćene cvjetove i kuhajte 30 minuta.
Ohladite i procijedite kroz gazu (dobro istisnite rukama da izađe sav sok).
Iscijeđenoj tekućini dodajte sok od limuna i naranče. Izvažite koliko je teška tekućina pa je pomiješajte s jednakom količinom šećera.
Stavite kuhati. Kad zavrije, smanjite vatru i kuhajte 2 sata (posljednji sat stalno miješajte!).
Sirupom punite zagrijane staklenke. Prekrijte kuhinjskim papirom, a kad se potpuno ohlade, zatvorite poklopcima.

DANDELION SYRUP

An organic and healthy syrup makes part of our grandmothers’ medicine. Prepared during warm months, it helps reduce coughing during the cold period. Our grandmothers were giving this advice: “When coughing, take 1 teaspoon of dandelion syrup several times a day.”

Ingredients:

1 kg dandelion flowers
4 l water
4 oranges
4 lemons
about 4 kg sugar

Method:

Pick dandelion flowers away from busy roads, on meadows, when the flowers are fully open.
Remove any green leaves.
Squeeze the oranges and lemons and reserve the juice. Slice the peel and cook with the dandelion flowers for 30 minutes.
Leave to cool. Sieve using a piece of gauze, pressing firmly with your hands to get as much liquid as possible.
Add the lemon and orange juice. Weigh the liquid and add an equal amount of sugar.
Bring to a boil, reduce the heat and cook for 2 hours, stirring constantly during the second hour!
Pour into heated jars. Cover with a piece of paper and leave to cool completely. Seal with lids.
