KARAMELIZIRANA NARANČA

Ovako pripremljenu naranču možete dodati sladoledu, kolačima, pudinzima, palačinkama, vaflima…

Sastojci:

1 naranča
sok 1 naranče
½ šalice šećera
¼ šalice vode

Priprema:

Naranču pažljivo ogulite pa koru narežite na tanke rezance. Dodajte vode toliko da prekrije narezanu koru i stavite na vatru. Kad zavrije, izlijte vodu i dodajte novu. Kad ponovno zavrije, kuhajte 1 min pa ocijedite.
Šećer rastopite nad srednje jakom vatrom da postane žućkast. Maknite s vatre, dodajte vodu i narančin sok. Pazite – šećer će se zapjeniti i početi krutiti. Miješajući vratite na laganu vatru. Kuhajte miješajući dok ne nastane gladak umak. Maknite s vatre i dodajte blanširanu koru.
Naranču pažljivo razdijelite na kriške. Uklonite bijelu koru ako je ima. Kriške složite u dublji tanjur pa prelijte karamelom.

CARAMELISED ORANGE

A caramelised orange can be served with ice cream, cakes and pastries, puddings, pancakes, wafers…

Ingredients:

1 orange
juice of 1 orange
½ cup sugar
¼ cup water

Method:

Carefully peel the orange. Slice the peel thinly. Add just enough water to cover the peel. Bring to a boil, pour out the water. Add a fresh batch of water, bring to a boil, cook for 1 minute more and drain.
Cook the sugar over medium heat until yellow. Remove from heat, add the water and orange juice. Be careful, as the sugar will start foaming and stiffening. Return to heat stirring constantly until the sauce is smooth. Remove from heat and add the blanched orange peel.
Carefully divide the orange segments, removing any white parts (the pith). Arrange the segments in a deep plate and pour over with the caramel.
