Briefly heated in a microwave oven, the pillow will help relieve the tension in your neck and shoulder muscles … You can also use it to warm a belly ache, or you can cool it in a freezer and use it as a cold pack.
What you need:
1 62×16 cm piece of cotton flannel
1 62×16 cm piece of cotton fabric with a pattern (I sewed together 8 pieces of left-over fabric, 8×16 cm each)
about 4 cups of rice
chalk
pins
a sewing machine
several drops of essential oil – optional
Place the fabric with a pattern on top of the flannel, face-sides facing one another (back side out).
Sew along both of the longer sides and one short side.
Turn over and straighten out the corners. Iron if needed.
Mark 8 equal parts using a chalk.
If you decide to use 8 various sewn pieces of fabric like I did, the seams will serve as your markings.
Scent the rice with several drops of the essential oil – optional.
Slip ½ cup of rice through the opening and push it all the way down to the bottom using your fingertips. Secure with pins and sew along the first marking (or along the seam between two pieces of fabric).
Remove the pins, slip in another ½ cup rice, secure with pins and sew along the second marking.
Repeat until the last part of the pillow.
Slip 1/3 cup rice into the last part, fold the outer hem inside and sew.
Your relaxation heating pad is ready!
